SERP features

SERP features are the parts of a Google results page other than the standard organic links: the map pack, AI Overviews, ads, People also ask, video and image blocks, and others. They push organic results down the page and often answer the search directly, so a page can hold its position and still lose clicks.

What it doesn't do: The features shown change by search, location, device and day. One check is a snapshot.

Google describes featured snippets as "special boxes where the format of a regular search result is reversed, showing the descriptive snippet first" (Featured snippets and your website).

How it shows up in RankUpside

The weekly live rank check records, for up to 50 searches per client: the map pack and who is in it, the AI Overview (present, absent or unknown), the domains it cites and whether it cites the client, the top ads, and the top 10 domains.

Those records turn Map pack and AI answer findings from inferred to observed. When the feature isn't on the page, the finding is marked contradicted and dropped, so a client never gets a map-pack fix for a search with no map pack.

How to check it yourself

Search from the client's area in a clean browser and note each block above the client's result, top to bottom. Do it for the few searches that bring the most impressions.

The AI Overview is the feature most likely to take clicks from how-to and comparison pages.

Yes, for the map pack, AI Overview, top ads and the top 10 domains, on up to 50 searches per client each week. It doesn't log every feature type.
